About the event
The Oppenheimer Festival is a two-week cultural and educational experience held each August in Los Alamos, New Mexico—the birthplace of the atomic age. Centered around the life and legacy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the festival blends history, science, ethics, and art through a wide range of programs. It invites participants to explore the past, reflect on its impact, and imagine the future.
Now in its third year, the 2025 festival (August 16–31) is guided by the theme: Peace, Legacy, and Explore. It offers visitors and locals an opportunity to discover Los Alamos through immersive storytelling and place-based experiences.
